Albury-Wodonga Health has a late available position available starting February 2021 for 3 – 6 months (a longer term may be considered).

Who are we? Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is a unique cross-border public health service and the largest regional health service between Sydney and Melbourne. We support an outer catchment population of 250,000 throughout North-East VIC and Southern NSW, with a dedicated team of over 2,500 staff. We are a dynamic organisation undergoing significant growth, with plans for new Emergency and Mental Health facilities underway.

AWH has a population of over 100,000, is located on the Murray river downstream of Lake Hume (water sports, fishing etc), is close to Victorian High Country and surrounded by gourmet food and wine regions of Rutherglen, Milawa and the King Valley. There is a wide variety of restaurants and cafes, theatre, art galleries and cinemas. Albury airport is located only 5 minutes from the city, with regular flights to Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Sydney.

The Opportunity AWH is an accredited Basic and Advanced paediatric training site. This position fulfils training requirements with the FRACP for advanced training, but not for basic training (as not rotated from a tertiary site).

Acute, outpatient and community paediatric services are provided to Albury-Wodonga and surrounding regions by 5 general paediatricians, a community paediatrician and a paediatric surgeon. The integrated service includes sub-specialty clinics, CAMHS liaison, Radiology meetings and an education program including journal club, video-linked education e.g. Grand rounds, FEAT. The registrar position is one of 5 registrars participating in a rotating roster with Night registrar rostering.

Selection Criteria
Mandatory : Registered or eligible for General registration as a Medical Practitioner by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Mandatory : At least two years post graduate experience with recent experience in paediatric care and including Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) qualifications, or expected to complete APLS course prior to start of employment.
Mandatory : Current registration with the Royal Australian College of Physicians.
Mandatory : Appropriate procedural skills including cannulation, catheterisation, resuscitation.
Mandatory : Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.
Mandatory : A good understanding of the unique demands of rural / regional health will be highly regarded.
