The Bank’s Employee Relations (ER) team is part of the People & Culture division who provides specialist advice and support to all areas of the business, to enable our people and culture and organisational strategy. The ER team is responsible for ensuring business and strategic initiatives meet employment related legislative and regulatory obligations and customer and community expectations. It also manages our industrial arrangements to ensure they are commercial, compliant and relevant to support sustainable growth.
The Senior Manager, Employee Relations is a highly influential role which provides specialist Employee Relations & Industrial Relations advice and guidance to senior leaders and managers across the organisation. This role is accountable for being that trusted advisor and subject matter expert who provides the business with accurate and commercial advice in relation to employment related matters to support the Bank’s strategic plans.
As a highly experienced ER professional you’ll bring a wealth of experience, value, and depth of technical knowledge. Being able to quickly build trust and credibility in a high touch customer service environment, however not afraid to challenge the status quo or have difficult conversations. You’ll be used to large complex organisations that work at pace, at times with ambiguity to deliver on innovative and agile People & Culture strategies.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne, Adelaide, or Bendigo offices. As strong supporters of flexible working arrangements, let's talk about what working flexible looks like to you - it could be working remotely from home a few days per week, varying start and finish times, compressed hours etc.
As the Senior Manager, Employee Relations you will have:
Deep technical expertise in Employment Law including all relevant State and Commonwealth employment related legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
Ability to draft and interpret policies and contractual provisions and manage ambiguity.
Experience in interpretation and advising on application of employment legislation and policy
High level of commercial acumen and knowledge of corporate structures as they related to employee relations issues eg. Acquisition, divestment and transfer of business rules.
Strong relationship and influencing skills including at senior/executive level as well as liaison with external legal and professional services providers.
Strong advocacy and negotiation skills and ability to manage disputation.
Ability to lead, coach and mentor in order to provide solutions to stakeholders with varying degrees of knowledge and experience.
Minimum 4-5 years of professional experience in Employment Law and/or Industrial Relations or equivalent in-house experience.
Previous experience with advocacy, enterprise agreement negotiation and disputation.
Tertiary qualified with degree in Law or related discipline.
