<p><strong><br>About the Team</strong></p><br>
<p> The <strong>Economic and</strong> <strong>Revenue Analysis Division (ERA)</strong> is responsible for monitoring and forecasting the NSW economy and revenues, providing policy advice on the State’s revenue measures and strategies, and engaging with other jurisdictions on federal financial relations. The Division is made up of the following teams:</p><br>
<ul>
<li>Macroeconomic Analysis, Research and Strategy</li>
<li>State Revenue Policy</li>
<li>Federal Financial Relations</li>
<li>Revenue Forecasting and Analysis</li>
<li>Intergenerational Report</li>
</ul><br>
<p>Within ERA, <strong>the Revenue Forecasting &amp; Analysis team</strong> is responsible for providing estimates of projected revenues, with particular emphasis on state taxes and GST. This includes developing, refining and applying quantitative models to forecast revenue lines for the Budget, forward estimates, and planning years. The work of the is team is vital in supporting fiscal sustainability, by informing broader Treasury advice on expenditure capacity and borrowing requirements.</p><br>
<p><strong><br> The Role:<br> </strong>As a <strong>Principal Economist</strong> in <strong>Revenue Forecasting &amp; Analysis</strong>, you will help drive the delivery of high quality forecasting outputs to support the Government’s fiscal decisions. You will unpack and refine existing models, with a view to increasing long-term forecast accuracy.</p><br>
<p><strong><br>Key Skills and Experience:</strong></p><br>
<ul>
<li>Tertiary qualifications in Economics/Econometrics/Statistics and/or relevant experience.</li>
<li>Strong track record of experience in forecasting / modelling in a data driven environment with a strong customer focus.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to motivate a team to analyse data, build models, apply critical perspectives across diverse issues, and draw inferences to support advice and analysis.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage others to meet tight deadlines and work collaboratively.</li>
<li>Advanced communication skills to clearly convey technical and complex information and analysis to our customers (verbal, written and visual) in a form that is appropriate to the audience and its purpose.</li>
<li>The ability to provide advice to the Treasurer and senior executive on a diverse and complex range of policy issues by utilising well developed modelling frameworks.</li>
