Job Description

APS Level 6, Ongoing $80,665 - $91,713 + 15.4% super Melbourne This exciting opportunity exists within Radar Engineering for a Radar Data Scientist to join the team. This is a key position within the Operational Technology and Engineering (OT&E) team, which forms part of the Observing Systems and Operations (OSO) Program. OT&E is made up of a diverse team of specialists and engineers, responsible for the development and design of engineering and technological solutions, incorporating level three support, on a range of technologies spanning from radars to rainfall stations, drifting buoys to dedicated observations and satellites to ships at sea so as to meet business needs. The Radar Engineering area looks after technical expertise for the Bureau radar network. This team focuses on systems engineering and maintenance support. The Radar team is responsible for Level 3 SME support, installation, commissioning, build and modification of radars, wind profilers and ionosondes. A part of this function is the radar data science, ensuring that the data obtained from the radar network is accurate and supporting the needs of the public, forecasters and weather scientists.
