This is an exciting opportunity for pharmacists with a passion for education to be part of the COVID-19 Vaccination Program at Monash Health. This role involves training and supporting multidisciplinary staff to prepare COVID-19 vaccine doses.

About Monash Health

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.

Our Pharmacy team fills a crucial role in delivering our strategic intent to be “relentless in our pursuit of excellence”. The Pharmacy Department provides clinical, operational and quality pharmacy services to patients in outpatient clinics and wards/units across the entire lifespan – from pre-birth, newborn babies and children, to adults and aged-care. The growth of our service and team has enabled the opportunity for experienced pharmacists to join our team to support our work across our service.

About the Role

This pharmacist educator role has been created to support the expanding COVID-19 vaccination clinics across Monash Health. Dose preparation (drawing up doses from multi-dose vials) is separated from dose administration in all of our clinics, thus there is a need to train and assess the competency of staff to perform the dose preparation role.

The pharmacist educator will also assist with ensuring that staff working in the COVID-19 vaccination clinics stay up to date with improvements in clinic processes and new information about the vaccines as they become available.

About You

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in supervision of staff and provision of feedback

  • Adaptability and ability to drive innovation, influence others and self-manage

  • Ability to work effectively in pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams

  • Commitment to continued professional development and lifelong learning

  • What You Need

    Essential:

  • Current registration as a pharmacist with AHPRA

  • Australian working rights

  • Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy environment

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications (completed or in progress)

  • What We Offer:

  • Access to Monash Health training courses and credentialing programs to develop/consolidate your clinical and operational pharmacy skills and knowledge

  • Mentorship and opportunities for career progression

  • Support to attend relevant continuing professional development events and conferences

  • In addition, you will have access to benefits including salary packaging options that increase your take-home pay, access to onsite discounted staff car parking and gym and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
