In all aspects of our operations, we aim to role model and live by our values: Responsiveness, Integrity, Insight, Collaboration and Excellence.About the branch and roleWe have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Paralegal to join our Royal Commissions & Inquiries (RCI) Branch and work alongside highly experienced and passionate solicitors.The RCI Branch provides specialist legal services and advice to the State in relation to Royal Commissions and Inquiries. The legal services undertaken by the branch include: Establishment of Royal Commissions (exclusive service)Management of notices to produce including document reviewProviding advice on the laws applying to Royal Commissions, public law matters and other issues as they ariseWitness preparationHearing preparationBriefing and instructing counselState submissionsStrategic responsesProject management and reportingRoyal Commissions and inquiries general advisory Day to day duties of these roles would include: Document management and discovery related tasks to assist in responding to notices to producePreparing daily summaries of hearingsDrafting correspondence, briefs to counsel and relevant documentsLegal researchTaking minutes of meetingsAssisting with legal support administrative duties as required Skills and experience Prior experience working as a ParalegalA demonstrated ability to perform high quality legal researchPrevious experience with document management/discovery related tasks would be highly desirableExcellent attention to detail and consistent high standards of workAbility to ‘think on your feet' and work independently in the absence of specific instructionSuperior time management skills and the ability to multi-taskAbility to appropriately deal with sensitive and highly confidential information BenefitsIn exchange for your hard work, you will receive; competitive remuneration, training and development opportunities and up to 17.5% annual leave loading.
