In all aspects of our operations, we aim to role model and live by our values: Responsiveness, Integrity, Insight, Collaboration and Excellence.About the roleAn exciting opportunity exists for an eager and enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office and provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our solicitors.This role will float amongst the organisation, depending on business needs, and is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of legal work as you rotate between our different branches, which include: Commercial, Property & Technology BranchLitigation & Dispute Resolution BranchPolice Advisory BranchPublic Law & Planning BranchRegulation, Administrative & Disciplinary Law BranchRoyal Commissions & Inquiries BranchWorkplace Relations & Occupational Safety Branch Responsibilities Preparing correspondence and court documents – drafting and typing (dictaphone)Amending & formatting documentsFile management – maintaining orderly, up to date legal files in electronic and hard copy formatDiary and email management – monitoring emails, calendars and recording deadlinesTelephone assistance – both incoming and screeningGeneral administration – photocopying, couriers, billing, relieving receptionLooking for ways to reduce the administrative workload of solicitors Skills and experience Prior experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firmConfident in providing high level legal administrative assistance to more than one solicitorStrong understanding of court systems, knowledge of legal terminology and an ability to conduct research using online databases and systemsSelf-starter who takes initiative and has the ability to operate autonomouslyHigh attention to detail with a commitment to service excellence BenefitsIn exchange for your hard work, you will receive; competitive remuneration, training and development opportunities and up to 17.5% annual leave loading.
