Senior Solicitor, Commercial Law $101,120 - $122,348 (Plus Superannuation)Fixed term / 6 monthsUsual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)Usual work location: 1 Spring Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available) The position of Senior Solicitor, Commercial Law forms a part of the Legal and Legislation Branch within the Corporate Services Group. The position forms part of the Commercial Law team, which deal with (among other things) funding arrangements, intellectual property, licensing, property including leasing, international commercial negotiations and major projects.The Legal and Legislation Branch is responsible for providing high quality legal and legislative advice and services on a broad range of matters across the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions. Legal issues are predominantly focused on commercial and contractual matters, administrative law and public law matters, including dispute resolution and other issues arising from the administration of portfolio legislation for a diverse client group including regional staff, policy officers and decision makers. The successful applicant will undertake a wide variety of work across the Commercial Law Team.Reporting to the Managing Principal Solicitor, Commercial Law, the key accountabilities of the role include: Draft and review a range of legal documentation, including agreements and instruments, as well as conduct negotiations to settle documentation.Provide authoritative advice on a broad range of legal issues and major strategic proposals.Manage delivery of legal services, including provision of legal services by external providers where required to ensure high quality advice and value for money.Negotiate and manage complex matters in various jurisdictions; brief and instruct counsel and external solicitors.Deal with and undertake analysis of complex legal issues.
