Together, we aim to lead a new era of cancer prevention, care and discovery, supported by state-of-the-art facilities at our new home within the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre building.Your role in our future. As a Research Assistant you will assist with the day-to-day running of the Tissue Bank at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The Tissue Bank is a member of the Victorian Cancer Biobank providing researchers with ethically collected human biospecimens for research.The successful candidate will be responsible for receipt, processing, storage and retrieval of biological material from consenting donors. You will also be required to gain written consent for tissue banking from prospective donors, collect clinical information from patient medical records and enter details into our tissue bank data base. While primarily based at Peter Mac, you may also be required to travel to other hospitals in the Melbourne metropolitan area.You will be enthusiastic, motivated and keen to learn. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are vitally important as is the ability to work well in a team environment. Meticulous data entry skills are essential, and an understanding of the ethical principles underpinning research using human tissue are desirable.This position is Fixed Term for a 12 month period.
