Senior Analyst/Economist required to join a high profile and functioning team to play a key role in Victoria’s economic recovery

 About us

The Department of Treasury and Finance provides economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.

The Transport, Infrastructure and Risk team sits within Service Delivery and Reform Group and considers a range of issues relating to transport networks, major transport projects, government insurance and government risk policy.

About the role

An ongoing opportunity exists for a Senior Analyst/Economist to join a high profile and functioning team to play a key role in Victoria's economic recovery. In this role, you will contribute to tangible results by:

  • Advising on complex issues relating to public service delivery and reform, including formulation of practical policy options
  • Negotiating and designing innovative government policies and programs that improve economic and social outcomes
  • Leading on qualitative and quantitative policy analysis and preparing high-quality briefing materials
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and collaborating on whole-of-government projects
  • About you

    To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate the following:

  • An established track record in providing pro-active analysis and advice that leads to reform and/or delivers key financial, operational and organisational improvements
  • Strong skills in negotiation and communication, including presenting persuasive policy arguments to senior executives and using data and evidence to provide insights
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and leading co-ordination processes to inform the development of policies and programs
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with experience advising on the limitations, opportunities and distributional impacts of policy proposals
