Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi | About the rolesWe are looking for a number of Analysts and Senior Analysts to support our growing and exciting Climate Change work programmes. This is your chance to support New Zealand to transition to a low-carbon economy and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Some of the key work programmes include the Carbon Neutral Government Programme, Adaptation, Mitigation, Funding and Financing the Climate Transition and International Carbon Markets. You will work closely with teams in the Climate Change Directorate, but will have a strong outward facing focus too, particularly with iwi/Māori, central government agencies, local government, industry groups and the private sector. As a Senior Analyst, you will also provide coordination and technical leadership for projects and have the opportunity to mentor junior members of the team to build capability. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience We are looking for people with experience in policy development and implementation who can deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment. You will have a collaborative approach, strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to quickly build credibility and trust across diverse groups. In particular, engaging and partnering with Māori will be key to your success. You will also bring: a background in climate change policy adviceexperience providing policy advice to senior leaders and Ministersstrong communication skills with the ability to deliver insights to technical and non-technical audiencesproject management skills, with the ability to identify and manage risksan agile approach, with a desire to make a difference commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori. For specific roles, we are looking for candidates with the following technical skills: a strong understanding of the public finance system and public financial structures/institutionsaptitude for engaging with and working alongside tangata whenuacoordinating administrative functions to support governance structuresdelivery in cross-agency operational programmes or projectsdelivery in sustainability programmes or outcomes representation experience in international negotiations, ideally with expertise in emissions trading schemes and other types of carbon marketsexperience with primary industry sectorsbackground in economic analysis and impact (of policies) analysis. Most importantly you will be passionate about looking for realistic and effective ways of achieving environmental outcomes.
