Our core competency is providing liquidity as an options market-maker – meaning we provide competitive quotes that we are willing to both buy and sell. To do this successfully we design and implement our own low latency technologies, trading strategies and mathematical models. Our Founding Partners, Andrew Killion and Mitchell Skinner, first conceptualized Akuna in their hometown of Sydney. They opened the firm’s first office in 2011 in the heart of the derivatives industry and the options capital of the world – Chicago. Today, Akuna is proud to operate from additional offices in Sydney, Shanghai, and Boston. Akuna Sydney opened in early 2018 and is at the center of Akuna’s Asian trading operations. Akuna’s focus in Asia is currently trading HK, Korea, cryptocurrencies and US night markets and is looking to expand to trading on all major Asian exchanges. Employees will work together towards achieving Akuna’s goals across all areas of the business, including trading and desk buildout, cutting-edge research and data analysis, strategy creation, and building ultra-low-latency trading systems that are tailored to local market conditions. What you’ll do as a Barista at Akuna: We are looking for an energetic individual to run our brand new in-office coffee bar and manage all aspects of providing service to employees each day. Our Sydney office offers a stocked kitchen, close proximity to Barangaroo and Wynyard station, and plenty of social events to get to know the team outside of the office. This is a full-time position, with start times between 7 and 8am, Monday through Friday, and candidates should be available to start the week of May 3rd. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent attention-to-detail, who takes pride in the way the office looks and operates. Ensuring the office operates at its best is crucial in this role. In this position, you will: Use your prior barista experience to help us craft a coffee menu and create an overall welcoming atmosphere Make and serve coffee beverages to employees Set up and break down the coffee bar each day, including all equipment cleaning and maintenance Maintain inventory and stocking of necessary coffee bar items Keep the coffee bar and surrounding areas tidy and clean, including loading, running, and unloading dishwasher Assist the Office Coordinator in maintaining overall cleanliness throughout the office and kitchen areas Monitor the use pf towels and launder as needed Assist with special projects as needed Qualities that make great candidates: Prior barista experience is required A self-starter with excellent customer service skills and a can-do attitude Ready and willing to propose ideas and give input on how to make the office environment even better Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and multitask in a fast-paced environment Professional and reliable Punctual and reliable
