The attributes we are looking for include the ability to think conceptually, solve problems collaboratively, engage well with stakeholders, work well in a team, and communicate complex ideas effectively. Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?The Advisor, Tobacco Control will work as part of a small team contributing to a range of policy issues directly related to the Government's goal of achieving a Smokefree Aotearoa by 2025. The team's work spans strategic and operational policy, legislation, service development and performance monitoring and reporting. This position is based in Wellington. Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team: The Tobacco Control Team sits within the Population Health and Prevention Directorate. This Directorate includes a range of population health programmes, including tobacco control, oral health, child health and Pacific health. It also includes key national public health functions, such as emergency management and the National Screening Unit. The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and disability system in New Zealand. We are responsible for providing active stewardship and leadership across the nation's health and disability system. We ensure the system provides people with the highest levels of care, regardless of who they are or where they live.
