There is an opportunity available for a Mould Repair Fitter to join Visy Glass operation located at Booker Street, Spotswood. Working in the Mould Shop and reporting to the Mould Repair Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining all mould equipment to a high quality standard, repairing glass container moulding equipment to ensure Glass quality.

Mould repair requires a variety of bench fitting duties such as filing, welding, hand grinding and polishing as well as milling and lathe repairs on a number of interchangeable part for glass moulding machinery. You will work with hand tools and be required to cover some relief work on CNC lathes repairing glass bottle moulds. You will also have the opportunity to get some exposure to job change activities in the plant.

This is also a diverse and varied role where you will be working closely with the Maintenance Team, responsibilities of the role will include but will not be limited to:

Inspect / repair Blanks and Moulds, all loose tools such as neck rings / baffles / blow heads
Clean all mould gear equipment using various types of blasters
Use of hand tools, measuring equipment and gauges
Daily factory gear checks and replenishment, spray welding
All required drill/ grind /weld skills as per required trade certificate
High standard of house keeping
This is a permanent role, works on a day shift from 7am to 5:30pm (10 hours each shift across 7 days), average 35 hours per week, roster rotating fortnightly.

What you will bring to the team:

You will have a fitter/machinist/tool maker trade qualification and experience in bench fitting duties like grinding and polishing as well as milling and lathe operations in an industrial environment, preferably an Engineering or Toolmaking workshop.

Any post trade qualifications and experience with MAZAK NC Lathes will be looked upon favorably but is not essential. The ability to program CNC Lathes is essential.

You will hold safety and quality above all else, have sound written and verbal communication, be a strong team player and be able to work with minimal supervision.
