We currently have a newly created position within our Australia Pacific (AUSPAC) Marketing and Communications team and are looking for an experienced External Communications Specialist. The role will be responsible for liaising and engaging with the media and identifying public relations opportunities to story-tell QBE’s strategic priorities and transformative journey. Moreover, you will work closely with the wider Marketing team on projects and campaigns to contribute to QBE’s brand awareness and reputation.
In addition, we are currently working remotely, and you will be supported with technology and remote work practices. Going forward there is the opportunity to apportion time between working from the office and working from home.
Specific responsibilities include:
Write, prepare, review, and edit media releases, articles, speeches, and other material for QBE’s external communications
Design, plan and implement communication strategies and campaigns for a variety of media and marketing programs
Work closely with relevant business areas and Marketing Partners to leverage newsworthy data and product announcements
Provide timely information to media outlets on a reactive or proactive basis in consultation with the relevant business unit
Issue statements, media releases and articles and act as a media liaison to disseminate information to inform and educate our various stakeholders
Establish and maintain positive relationships with representatives of the media and where appropriate a strong interest in relevant industry, community, employee and public interest groups
Collaborate with key stakeholders and build relationships internally to achieve excellent outcomes
Your story so far
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Communications, Marketing or other relevant qualification or professional experience in communications and marketing
Communications, Media, or Public Relations experience either within an agency or corporate environment, preferably in the financial services/insurance sector, but this isn’t essential
Experience in creating and executing internal/external communications plans
Ability to understand and process complex information quickly to translate business requirements into effective communications
Strong ability to write simple, effective, and engaging communications for external audiences
Experience in writing for traditional and digital communication channels
Knowledge of principles and practices of marketing, organisational communications, journalism, and community relations as well as composing and editing informational material
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships cross-functionally
Strong organisational skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines effectively
