Job Description

The QSE Manager is responsible for managing the Quality Assurance (QA), Operational Health & Safety (OH&S), and Environment functions at Wabtec, Austbreck and Faiveley Australia operations.Objectives: prevent accidents, hazard/risk reduction, improve customer satisfaction, prevent and manage non-conformances, improve sustainability, and achieve and maintain certification.Key activities may include:Improve and maintain the Management System (Quality, Safety, Environment & Authorised Engineering Organisation) to comply with standards, certification and customer requirements;Facilitate consultation with relevant stake holders regarding Safety, Environment and Quality issues;Plan, schedule and conduct internal and supplier audits and inspections for compliance, improvement purposes;Lead problem investigations using Root Cause Analysis using suitable tools (Convergence, 8D, FTA etc.);Take relevant action on incidents and non-conformance, this includes containment, investigation, corrective action, alerts, lessons learned and reporting;Facilitate Training and Awareness on Safety, Quality and Environment scope;Provide advice, guidance to stakeholders on Quality, Safety & Environment related topics based on standards, regulatory requirements, code of practices, guidelines and technical requirements;Facilitate and promote QSE related activities like QRQC, Hazard/Risk management, Emergency preparedness, 2Minute Warning, Wabtec Management System, First Article Inspection, change management;Reporting to local management, group, corporate on QSE performance, trends and significant issues;Work within Corporate and Group guidelines and tools (Gensuite, WIMS etc);Assist Sales Department in preparing bids in areas of QSE;Manage QSE team;Commitment to Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements; andAny other duties directed by your manager.The essential formal qualifications and experience required for this position are:Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical specialization);Certified Lead-auditor with experience ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and AS/NZS 4801;Recognized Australian tertiary qualification in OH&S.;3 years’ experience in Managing HSE (Risk/Hazard, Audits, Investigation);3 years’ experience working in the rail environment;5 years’ experience: Certification, Management System, Supplier Quality, Operational Quality;Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills; organizational skills;Requires strong planning, analytical, communications, presentation, procedure writing skills;Good proficiency in Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, PowerPoint; andExperience developing of FMEA’s, ITP’s, Project Quality/Safety/Environment PlansSkillsAbility to visibly display and promote Wabtec Values, to create an environment where employees can develop trust in each other through consistent behaviors and professional conduct;Commitment to the principles of Continuous Improvement;Effectively communicate ideas and information and seek opportunities for innovative approaches to problems;The ability to successfully liaise with customers and their representatives with regard to technical issues;Effective verbal and written communication skills plus interpersonal skills with the capacity to gain the cooperation and support of people/groups to achieve business objectives, and Customer requirements and expectations;Demonstrated initiative and sound organisational/time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to identify improvements, determine priorities, multi-task, work independently, and effectively and efficiently meet deadlines; andEffective analytical interpretation and problem-solving skills.Wabtec Corporation is committed to taking on the world’s toughest challenges.
