Job Description

The Database Cloud Specialist will sit within our Products team and drive our Era product technology suite. This is a customer-focused technical sales professional that provides pre-sales consulting, technical guidance, and hands-on to customers and partners. The Portfolio Specialist collaborates with Nutanix Sales team recommend and design effective base on customers’ data center applications through Nutanix Enterprise Cloud. The Cloud Database Specialist acts in a consultative fashion and is looked to as an expert in his/her field by the Nutanix Portfolio team, business partners and customers.ResponsibilitiesSupport our sales teams on large and/or strategic opportunitiesSolve complex distributed database system problemsEngage with senior technical decision makers throughout the sales processPresent and discuss the value proposition(s) associated with your specializationBuild long-term business relationships and become a trusted advisor within select accounts to see opportunities and sell Nutanix SolutionsAbility to demonstrate and improve reseller/alliance partner relationships to increase salesBuild and deliver technical product and solution presentations and/or training sessions to customers, partners, and Nutanix SEs as neededInstall, support, and maintain Nutanix solutions during Proof of Concept (POC) deploymentsStay well ahead of the learning curve in your area of expertise and related business trendsWork across the ANZ region with sales teams as a regional pre-sales resource providing deep technical support for proposed cluster Nutanix design with respect to underlying network requirements, as needed help with design and architecture for future customer requirements as they expand installations and help sales teams with networking issues at installed customers.Work with the regional education team to ensure cross training to the field systems engineers of relevant industry network news as well as technical network training as appropriate.Work with Nutanix Product Management to feed-back information from customers and field sales teams to influence future Nutanix network and associated product development.Requirements:Deep domain expertise with one of the RDBMS technologies like Oracle, Microsoft SQL, DB2 or PostgreSQLExperience in architecting, designing and deploying complex database deployments and helping customers build DBaaS architectureHands-on experience with Oracle/MSSQL databases, understanding AWR/PerfMon Reports and experience in sizing and design of complex workloads.Broad database/analytics experience around other technologies like NoSQL DB Workloads like MongoDB, Cassandra, CouchDB is desiredExperience of other tier 1 business applications such as SAP/HANA or other applications Experience Some coding / scripting experience to for automation of platforms through APIProven experience one or more of the following areas:Application and Server Virtualization experienceMaintain relationships with technical resources at all levels of a customer organizationDeep understanding of technical sales techniques and processes including the ability to understand customer needs, overcome objections, assist in the development of business cases, and technically close dealsFlexible, dependable, self-starter, capable of quickly learning new products and technologiesExcellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skillsAbility to travel within the Australia/New Zealand on occasion and as requiredExperience selling servers, storage hardware, or networkingStrong knowledge of Linux/UNIXExtraordinary teammate that works well in dynamic situations and startup environmentsAssist or deliver on Nutanix ERA advance technical jobs ex: POC, Technical competitive make sure deals technical closeFocus on ERA deals in his/her region, make sure all deals technical close statusGet products feedback from field Sales/SE, follow up with PM/Engineering teamFor this role you will have over 10 years experience in a customer facing technical role.You will have strong virtualization technologies, data center consolidation, and database technologies within a vendor, partner or customer facing role. You will be familiar with with database design with hands on experience in a commercial environment. Some travel is required in this role as the focus is ANZ centric where permitted to travel.
