<ul><li>Talent pool recruitment process for any potential temporary positions that may become available over the next 18 months.</li><li>Salary from $85,488 plus super (Departmental Officer Grade 5/6)</li><li>Positions potentially available in the Southern Area location including Moss Vale, Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Tumut and Albury/Howlong</li></ul><p> </p><p>The <a href="https://www.scs.nsw.gov.au/">Soil Conservation Service</a> is looking for an <strong>Environmental Officer</strong> to lead a small team in the delivery of project management activities across a range of natural resource and/or civil consulting projects to industry stakeholders and clients.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Background:</strong></p><p>The Department of Regional NSW was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The Department has responsibility for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.</p><p> </p><p>LLS is an Executive Agency related to the cluster. This regionally based organisation brings together a wide range of service and advisory functions including agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, land management, biodiversity, emergency services, private native forestry and the Soil Conservation Service.</p><p><br><strong>About the role:</strong></p><p>This successful applicant will be responsible for the following:</p><p> </p><ul><li>Identify client needs and deliver soil conservation and environmental consulting projects on a profitable basis while promoting and managing a successful commercial consulting business at cost centre level.</li><li>Apply environmental and technical expertise to address natural resource management and construction issues in a cost effective and efficient manner.</li><li>Actively seek environmental projects in the marketplace and negotiate with clients on technical and financial aspects and outcomes.</li><li>Supervise project teams and/or work alone, source and deploy appropriate resources and organise works programs to optimum efficiency across a range of situations and locations within NSW, interstate or internationally.</li><li>Prepare detailed technical reports and plans and be able to implement projects following specifications and technical drawings prepared in-house or by third parties.</li><li>Prepare and review contracts and tender documents and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes.</li><li>Operate within the SCS’s Integrated Management System framework and implement practices and standards.</li><li>Take steps to implement WHS, Environmental Standards and Quality Management practices and procedures as outlined within the Soil Conservation Service’s Integrated Management System (IMS) and Department of Regional NSW safety policies and guidelines.</li></ul><p> </p><p>To be successful in this role you’ll need project and/or site management capability, practical working knowledge in the design and implementation of soil and water conservation projects, including agricultural conservation earthworks and understanding of environmental principles and legislation.</p><p> </p><p>You’ll have a successful track record in leading project teams as well as a current C class drivers’ licence with a willingness to travel regionally to deliver projects.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>How to Apply:<br></strong>It’s simple!
