An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Full Time Head Chef at our College in Alice Springs.This is very unique & highly sought after role as it would give you the opportunity to pursue a career and enjoy a great work life balance. The opportunity to have most weekends and school holidays off to spend with your family or enjoying other interests!The role:The ideal candidate will be confident, with a modern cooking style and a strong focus on standards to ensure exceptional quality and consistency of product. A strong understanding of managing food costs, labour and ordering. This is a management role with hands on cooking, organising functions, menu planning, costing and management of a busy kitchen.Your role in this environment would be to work closely with the site manager to ensure our students, staff and function guests have the opportunity to enjoy their meals in a friendly and vibrant atmosphere with excellent food service and quality at all times.Example Roster: Monday to Saturday 9.30am - 6.30pm**Roster runs throughout school terms and Saturdays hours placed into Time in Lieu.What this role involves: Overall kitchen management - leading & managing chefs, kitchen hands and catering assistantsMenu planning for students daily meals, functions, conferences and school/sporting campsCooking of a variety of nutritious home style and gourmet mealsOrdering stock and stock takes and monitoring food costsMonitoring and promoting kitchen hygiene and Food Safety practices What we require from you: Certificate III (or similar) in Commercial CookeryFood Safety Certification (mandatory)Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within an institutional setting Demonstrable team leadership and management Experience in bulk cooking, functions/conferences and or high end cateringImpeccable, genuine, friendly & professional customer serviceA motivated, enthusiastic and positive ‘can-do’ attitudeResourcefulness, resilience and enthusiasmAbility to work in a fast-paced, challenging & time-sensitive environmentPride in personal appearance & hygiene
