The Division The Customer Strategy and Technology team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation and build partnerships to provide customer-centred solutions. The opportunity Right now, we have an opportunity for a Senior Manager Specifications and Evaluations to join us in our Customer Strategy and Technology division within the Technology and Innovation branch. Reporting to the Director of ITS Engineering, the successful applicant will influence the development of Australian Standards and lead the setting of systems level and equipment specifications for ITS equipment. This includes leading the equipment evaluations and type approval process to enable the implementation of functionality to required standards of safety and reliability. This is an excellent opportunity to work with exciting current and new technology as part of a large business transformation initiative which will change the way we manage the transport network. What you will be involved in: Ascertain and advise safety standards and manage the setting of specifications for ITS and traffic systems by analysing and interpreting community, industry and government expectations and by leading the researching of standards and specifications used by other agencies and in other fields. Lead the type-approval and evaluations process for new and existing intelligent transport systems equipment. Ascertain and provide guidance to improve the safety and reliability of ITS and traffic systems by establishing procedures and setting standards that reduce failure rates, minimise fault rectification time and maximise system availability. Accountable for leading the introduction of innovation with the development of Standards and Specifications of ITS products for related projects and activities within the Transport cluster Lead the Specifications and Evaluation team consisting of engineers and technical personnel working collaboratively with other internal parties and major project teams. About you You will hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline coupled with demonstrated experience in leading standards and specifications agendas in collaboration with key stakeholders. You are a seasoned leader who enjoys working as part of a team and has experience in motivating and managing specialized technical technology teams to engage and deliver robust ITS specifications/solutions to diverse stakeholders to meet business requirements. You have excellent communication skills and proven experience operating in a complex customer centric fast paced environment. You will enjoy working in a fact paced, dynamic environment with an aptitude for understanding of best practice industry trends, integrity standards and applications coupled with extensive knowledge of traffic signal control and relevant ITS service principles and frameworks.
