About the role
This is an outstanding opportunity for a work health safety (WHS) professional to join the Human Resources team at Legal Aid WA. You will develop and maintain the occupational safety and health framework and policy and will also provide an advisory and consultancy service to managers and employees, coordinate occupational safety and health, workers’ compensation claims injury management programs and prepare regular WHS reports. LAWA is currently seeking certification to the WorkSafe Plan.
This role covers all worksites and locations visited by Legal Aid WA staff while delivering services, such as courts, detention centres and prisons. Staff work in metropolitan, regional and remote locations and work as part of a team in often high-pressure situations which might be time sensitive or require high level communication skills to manage clients presenting with drug and alcohol issues and/or mental health issues.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication and negotiation skills, experience implementing safety management plans and will have experience mitigating psychosocial risks in the workplace.
